Portraits of My Friends I have been lucky enough to have had the use of a friends’ Mamiya 7ii for the last couple of months. I’ve been slowly learning the ‘old ways’, and by that I mean it’s been a pain to learn how to use a rangefinder – it is quite tricky, […]
Three Ways to See Calgary One of the better-known facts about Calgary is that it is not a very dense city. Once you leave the downtown area, the suburbs open up fast and because of this geography, you don’t have to go very far to see quite a diversity of landscapes. So here are three […]
Late Night Walks. Late night walks take me to some pretty strange places. Sometimes, though, I end up in really familiar places that are transformed and made new. Take this part of Kingstreet for example. It’s just a regular old intersection. But the streetlights, reflecting off of the overhead wires and the dark sky. […]
A Tree With A View Of The Tower It’s lonely but this tree has a nice view of the tower. There aren’t a lot of good lookouts for the Toronto skyline but there are some interesting places that still haven’t been shot. What else can you expect, the waterfront is straight and there are […]
Long Nights “If you guys don’t finish soon, I’m going home and you’re going to have to stop traffic all by yourselves!” Is what I imagine he’s saying over his shoulder.
Queen Streetcar in the Rain This isn’t a technically good shot but I like the frame with the Queen Streetcar racing through the rain. It’s dark and the weather was bad, it was raining something awful that night. Also, it was dark and handheld so my settings were a little crazy. f/3.5 ISO:1000 1/20″
Toronto Skyline At Dawn I couldn’t sleep the night before – noisy upstairs neighbours kept me up this night with their new home theatre system. It was close to sunup so, I decided why not go and get an early morning shot of Toronto’s Skyline. This park is only a short bus ride from where […]
Sleepy Streetcar I found a streetcar yard here. While the city sleeps this place is abuzz with activity. cleaning and repairing the cars for their long day ahead.
It took me forever to realize you could walk inside this thing. Once in there, my brain couldn’t agree with my eyes everything looked so weird. Of course, this is the perfect time to take a picture – if only Calgary could have more publicly visible artwork like this.
I really like this address. It transforms the unassuming front of a bland building into something interesting and dramatic at night.
