Back in Calgary Alberta
After several months in Toronto, I am now back in Calgary Alberta for a while. I’d like to say that I can see this city in a different light, but no, it’s still the same as when I left it. This city really challenges my photography, there is precious little street life and the city is very spread out, which makes it difficult to spot the interesting things while I’m ripping around town tucked safely inside my car.
But that’s just the character of this city. It is not bad, it’s just how this city is built and as a consequence, there are some interesting landscapes here that look as if they are not part of a city of over a million. What is interesting, and most characteristic of Western Canada are how enormous structures frame and highlight parts of the landscape, rather than contain it. I’m going to have to get used to driving between shots again but I’m not that bummed about it, winter’s coming and I was not built for the cold. HAHA
